Top 5 things to know in East Tennessee Tuesday

1) Loudon Police are investigating the death of a man after he was hit by a train. Just before 11:30 Monday night, police say 34-year-old Kenneth Shea was walking along the railroad tracks at Highland Avenue when he was stuck and killed by a Norfolk Southern train. At the time of this posting, police say they do not know why Shea was walking along the tracks.

2) Knox County deputies have arrested the man who they say kidnapped his estranged wife at gunpoint. Police found 41 year old Stephen Mayes after he showed up at a Tennova emergency room and hospital officials called 911. Authorities say he hid in the bushes at his wife's workplace on Sunday and forced his way into her car. According to the report, Stephen Mayes then drove the car to a gas station in Farragut where he tried to force her into the trunk. Authorities say she fought back and managed to run inside the convenience store for help.

3) A mother who accused in a recent Oak Ridge case where a baby was kicked in the head will be in court Monday. Melissa Shilling will appear in Anderson County General Sessions Court Division II.

4) The Band Perry with meet fans at their hometown Walmart on Tuesday to sign copies of latest album, PIONEER. The signing will begin at 5:00pm ET at Walmart on East Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville, TN.

5) Contestants from the 2013 American Idol season will be in Knoxville along with Oliver Springs Native Janelle Arthur Tuesday night. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. at Thompson Boling Arena.
