Man charged with killing his wife 7 years ago is back in Knox Co. to stand trial | News
The estranged husband of a woman who disappeared in 2005 is finally back in Knox County to stand trial for her murder.
Paul Anthony Knight is charged with second degree murder in the death of Pamela Knight. The 35-year-old mother left her home with Paul Knight on October 26, 2005 and was never seen again. Knight was the subject of a cold case 10News covered in April 2009.
Her remains were finally discovered in Loudon County in January 2012.
A grand jury indicted Paul Anthony Knight a few months later, and Knoxville Police learned he was behind bars in Pollock, Louisiana, on federal gun and stolen vehicle charges. Prosecutors filed paperwork to have him returned to Tennessee to face murder charges.
While the legal process was playing out, Knight was transferred to a prison in Beaumont, Texas, due to a hurricane last fall. Finally, on Friday, Knight was returned to Knoxville, where he was arraigned on the murder charges Tuesday morning.
His trial date has been set for May 7, 2013.
