Second half strikes again; Vols lose to Gators at Neyland

Second half strikes again; Vols lose to Gators at Neyland

Right up until the second half Saturday night, the incredible momentum that energized Knoxville for the past week seemed like it might be enough to carry the Tennessee Volunteers to a victory against the Florida Gators for the first time in eight meetings.

The Vols were up 14-10 in front of a sell-out crowd of more than 102,000.

But then the 2nd half happened to a team that's had some memorable 2nd half meltdowns in the past few years.

Then the Gators scored 27 points.

President Obama has proclaimed Tuesday "Patriot Day" and the "National Day of Service and Remembrance."

Thousands of Tennesseans have fought for our country since the 9/11 attacks.

Tennessee National Guard hosting job fair for veterans

The Tennessee National Guard says it's working to put veterans back to work, and officials hope a job fair Tuesday will do just that.

The Guard's Armory in Lenoir City is hosting the fair from 2 to 5. In all, 17 employers are set to attend, including the City of Knoxville, Tusculum College, and H&R Block.

Even though the fair is geared toward veterans, officials say everyone is welcome to attend.

I readily admit to being a homebody lately.  Having kids will do that to you.  When you first bring home that bouncing bundle of joy, you are simply too tired for a night on the town.  Later on, the prospect of taking a preschooler and a toddler on a trip to Ingles is plenty of adventure for one day, thank you very much.  Now, I find myself at the point where I am getting out of the house, but only to take my kids to their social activities, soccer games, swim lessons, and parties.
