East Tennesseans prepare for messy Thanksgiving travels - snow is on the way!
If you going to hit the road tomorrow, do it soon rather than later. Heavy rains with a chance of sleet will arrive Tuesday. Rain is expected to turn to snow overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.
According to the forecast, there could be a light dusting of snow in the valley, 1-2 inches across the plateau, and 2-4 inches across the foothills and mountains. Be sure to leave with plenty of time because there could be dangerous conditions on the roadways. A winter storm that's about to strike the southeast is to blame.
Fortunately, conditions will dry up Thanksgiving, and warmer conditions will arrive this weekend with temperatures reaching back into the low-50s.
